Modelling Asymmetric Magnetic Recording Heads with a Soft Underlayer Using Multiple Images Method

ALUTROHA JOURNAL

In this paper, the head fields for magnetic recording heads when a soft underlayer (SUL) is present were calculated. The multiple images method is used along with employing an appropriate Green function. The results follow closely the corners, while the gap region shows linear behavior for d/g < 0.5 compared with the calculated fields from finite-element, the reason of the disagreement caused by using the potential for head without (SUL) case. Second used method is superposition technique, which implemented the principle of the single image method for d=g. It was found that for the head with the (SUL), the superposition (single image method) results follow closely the shape of the calculated fields from finite-element modelling. The results show that y field components based on the superposition (single image method) are in very good agreement with finite-element calculations for angles up to 45 for y/g≤ 0.1

OPTIMIZATION OF ASYMMETRIC MAGNETIC RECORDING HEADS INCLINATION ANGLE AND STUDYING THE CHARACTERISTICS FOR A HIGHER BIT DENSITY RECORDING OF HDD

Science Journal of University of Zakho (Issue: 4) (Volume: 6)

This paper studies the optimization of the asymmetric magnetic recording heads, the calculations demonstrate sharp field gradient performance for both the horizontal, and vertical field components for this type of magnetic recording heads at large inclination and small distance between the head and underlayer. In addition, the characteristics for a higher bit density recording of HDD have been studied. These characteristics can be utilized to raise bit density in both recording method: conventional and vertical, respectively.

Study the Existence and Uniqueness of Global Solution for the Fractional Second Order Nonlinear Integro –Differential Equations with Boundary Conditions

Alkufa University Journal for Mathematics and computer science (Issue: 2) (Volume: 5)

In this paper, the existence of the global solution and its uniqueness is studied for the Second Order Nonlinear Integro–Differential Fractional Equations with boundary conditions by utilizing the Picard approximation method which is given by Sturble, 1962. Furthermore, several given results by Butris, 2010 have been extended.

Magnetic Fields of 2D Asymmetrical Magnetic Recording Heads Based on Superposition of Corner potentials with Adjustable Coefficients to Finite-Element Calculations

Global Conference on Applied Physics and Mathematics proceeding book- Roma

Current magnetic recording heads, used in shingled magnetic recording and two-dimensional magnetic recording, often exhibit asymmetry in their structure. They consist of two semiinfinite poles separated by a gap (where the recording field is produced), with an inner gap faces inclined at an angle. Modelling of the fields from asymmetrical structures is complex, and no explicit solutions are currently available (only implicit conformal mapping solutions are available for rational inclination angles). An approximate solution for the fields from asymmetrical heads is derived in this paper. The derivation is based on the superposition of the surface fields from corner structures. The approximate expressions for the fields are compared to finite-element calculations revealing excellent agreement for inclination angles ≤ 140o.

Approximate Expressions for the Magnetic Potential and Fields of 2-D, Asymmetrical Magnetic Recording Heads

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics (Issue: 52) (Volume: 2)

A 2-D asymmetrical magnetic head is characterized by the parallel inclination of the semi-infinite, inner gap walls, and where the gap length and head-to-underlayer separation are small compared with the other dimensions in the head. With head corner inclination, these structures contribute to the reduction in the effective gap length of the head and, therefore, the increase in the field magnitude and narrowing of the field distributions near the acute gap corner. Asymmetrical heads were, therefore, proposed for increasing the writing and readout resolutions in gapped magnetic head structures. There are currently no explicit or approximate analytical solutions for the potential and fields from 2-D asymmetrical magnetic heads. This paper is concerned with the detailed theoretical derivation of relatively simple closed-form approximations for the scalar magnetic potential and fields from 2-D asymmetrical magnetic heads

Theoretical analysis of gap potential functions and corner saturation in 2-D, symmetric magnetic recording heads with tilted gap corners

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics (Issue: 12) (Volume: 52)

The 2-D, semi-infinite symmetrical head with gap corner angle α and in the absence of a soft underlayer was postulated in the early history of magnetic recording to develop the field theory necessary for modeling and understanding the record and readout processes. Practical and mathematical considerations limited the theory of this general head structure to corner angles α = 90° (right-angled head) and α = 0° (“thin” gap head). Thus, explicit and analytical solutions for the gap potential function and its Fourier transform (necessary for determining the fields beyond the head surface) as functions of corner angle for symmetrical heads remain unavailable. Moreover, saturation in the gap corners associated with the reduction of the gap corner angle is not well understood and characterized. In this paper, the scalar magnetic potential of a single 2-D corner is derived exactly, and the superposition of two corner potentials was then used to derive an approximate analytical expression for the gap potential function of 2-D symmetrical heads with arbitrary corner angle. The derived expressions for the potentials and fields were in excellent agreement with exact analytical solutions and with finite-element solutions for all α ≤ 90°. The derived expressions were also shown to predict accurately the surface potentials of other symmetrical head structures, including the tilted pole head, the parallel plate head, and the tilted plate head. An analytical approximation for the Fourier transform of the surface held for the 2-D symmetrical head was derived, showing the shift in the spectral gap nulls toward longer wavelengths with reducing gap corner angle. Systematic finite-element calculations of the static vector potential for the 2-D symmetrical head were carried out using a nonlinear B-H core material model for different driving fields and corner angles. Corner saturation was characterized by the driving fields that yield 10% root-mean-square deviation from the linear material...

Why Write a Book?

elsevier.com / Online, International

Books play an important role in defining the landscape in a particular discipline or field. Whatever your career stage, if you have yet to publish or contribute to a book, it could be time to reconsider! In this module, Stacy Masucci, a Senior Acquisitions Editor for Elsevier S&T Books, explains the benefits of becoming a book author or editor. She explores the results of a survey that asked book authors to share their motivations, and you’ll hear directly from some of them about what inspired them to take the first step. Stacy also highlights the variety of ways you can get involved in book writing; where publishing might fit into your career path, (for example, you might start by taking on a co-author role or contributing a book chapter); and how Elsevier can help you realize your book publishing goals. You’ll come away with the information you need to judge whether publishing a book is the right path for you and an understanding of how you can get involved.

structuring article correctly

elsevier.com / Online, International

One of the key goals when writing a journal article is to communicate the findings clearly. In order to help researchers achieve that objective, scientific papers share a common structure (with slight variations per journal). Clear communication isn’t the only reason these article elements are so important; for example, the title, abstract, and keywords all help to ensure the article is found, indexed, and advertised to potential readers. In this interactive module, we walk early career researchers through each of the building blocks. We help you understand the type of content each element should contain. We also share tips on how you can maximize their potential, such as key points to consider when writing your article title. You will come away with the detailed knowledge you need to write an effective scientific article, increasing your chances of publication success.

The Employment Policy Department promotes full and freely chosen employment by developing integrated policies that maximize the impact of economic growth and investment on labour market outcomes. In doing so, it supports a comprehensive agenda for employment that is inclusive, environmentally sustainable and gender sensitive. A key area of focus of the Department centres on providing technical support to member States in achieving the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030, in particular, Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. At the global level, the Department advocates and promotes policy frameworks and partnerships that aim at generating more and better quality employment opportunities. At the country level, it supports efforts by ILO constituents to develop, implement and monitor coordinated and context-specific policies and programmes that promote quality job creation through economic diversification and investment strategies, skills development and labour market policies to activate the most vulnerable groups and assist them in finding decent jobs. These include policies and programmes facilitating the transition of millions of people from the informal to the formal economy, and increasing employment and income opportunities in the rural economy.
